Summer evenings brighten up again with cinema under the stars, a tradition that keeps us company every year allowing us to enjoy a good film in the open air surrounded by the summer breeze. But which summer Arenas are not to be missed?

  • Apriti Cinema - Piazzale degli Uffizi

Apriti Cinema, the screen in the Piazzale degli Uffizi, returns from June 26 to August 7 with its programming of the best of festivals and reviews. Each evening, in one of Florence's most beautiful and historic locations, there will be a film screening, in original language with free admission. The Apriti Cinema 2023 programming consists of films proposed by the Florentine festivals with an international vocation, such as Festival dei Popoli, Lo Schermo dell'Arte, Middle East Now, which will propose within the Apriti Cinema program real mini-reviews; and also, the Florence Korea Film Fest, the Florence Queer Festival, River to River Florence Indian Film Festival, L'Entre dos Mundos - Ibero-American Film Festival and others!   • Cinema nel Chiostro al Museo Novecento

From June 19 throughout the summer until Sept. 10 at 9:30 p.m. arthouse cinema returns to the cloister of the Novecento Museum. The summer arena, set up for about 230 seats, features arthouse films, the best films of the season and a special review entitled Almodòvar the shape of desire, dedicated to the famous Spanish director. Italian titles include Nanni Moretti's "Il sole dell'Avvenire," Marco Bellocchio's "Rapito," Giuseppe Fiorello's "Stranizza d'amuri," and Marisa Vallone's "La Terra delle donne."

  • Non solo Cinema in Manifattura - Manifattura Tabacchi

Until August 27theCinema in Manifattura summer arena is back, every evening at 9.15 pm, with a program of many films and events organized by theStensen Foundation, including classic titles, new discoveries and thematic insights. The main novelties of this season are free admission to all screenings, the location in the new spaces of Manifattura Tabacchi,Maker Street, and the possibility ofusing headphonesto have a more immersive experience. The other previews areKursk; the return of the director of the belovedEasy,Andrea Magnani (present in the arena on August 9)with La Lunga Corsa. Space also for the great classics with some films that have made the history of cinema, such asEve against Eveby Joseph L. Mankiewicz,Frankenstein juniorby Mel Brooks,The Warriorsby Walter Hill, and two fundamental titles by Godard:Bande à partandBreathless.

  • Arena estiva Cinema di Castello

The Cinema di Castello summer arena has already been active since June 15 in the outdoor courtyard of the Arci club. The programming focuses on the best titles of the season but privileging above all those seen less frequently, the pearls to be recovered, the films not to be missed. On Fridays and Sundays the pizzeria is also active, with a pizza and beer plus film promo for 12 euros, while the single ticket price is 6 euros, 5 euros reduced.

  • Cinema Chiardiluna

With the beautiful season also starts the 2023 programming of Florence's Chiardiluna cinema, the large outdoor screen located on Via Monte Oliveto, in the area between Piazza Pier Vettori, San Frediano and Piazza Tasso. The outdoor cinema program kicks off on Friday, June 16, and continues in July, August and early September with new releases and the best titles from the past season. Big news are the cult Italian and European films at 3.50 euros that will be offered throughout the season while for other titles the ticket price is 7 euros, reduced 5.50 for those with the Firenze al Cinema card, children under 10 and military personnel.

  • Cinema in Villa - Giardino Bardini

The Belvedere Terrace of the Bardini Garden in Florence returns to host the Cinema in Villa film festival, from July 4 to August 27. About 50 appointments including screenings, previews, and meetings with directors, actors, and writers. Confirmed is the Thursday Cinema in the Family event with free admission for parents and children by reservation, otherwise the ticket price is €5.00 except for Italian and European films, on Cinema Revolution promotion at €3.50 plus online presale fees.   • Estate Fiesolana: il cinema nel teatro romano di Fiesole

The Estate Fiesolana is now in its 76th year, so many editions of the multidisciplinary festival held at Fiesole's Roman Theater. Among music, concerts and performances, the program of films under the stars also returns, scheduled from August 5 to 20 and curated by the Stensen Foundation.

  • Esterno notte - Poggetto

The Poggetto film arena on Michele Mercati Street in the Flog area also opens. The full ticket costs 6.50 euros and reduced 5.50, but, as in other cinemas, Italian and European films are priced at 3.50 euros.The shows are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m.The full programme HERE.

  • Opencine at the Acciaiolo Castle in Scandicci

Moving on to Scandicci, open-air cinema returns for the second time to the Acciaiolo park, with around 100 seats available. From the end of June to mid-July, the big screen is the protagonist of the review curated by the Amici del Cabiria association, with international films, for children, linked to the territory or awarded by festivals.
